EMR Specialist

Job Summary:

As an EMR Specialist, you’ll play an important role in supporting high-quality care by helping staff successfully use our electronic medical record systems. You’ll collaborate with clinical teams, Learning and Development, IT, and internal partners to design and deliver training, provide ongoing support, and ensure the EMR supports efficient workflows and regulatory requirements.

During EMR implementations or major system upgrades, you’ll also support the EMR Project Team by helping maintain the project plan and keeping tasks, timelines, and communication organized and on track. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys teaching, problem-solving, and being a go-to resource for others.

Hourly Wage:

$26.00 /hr.

Schedule:

First shift, full-time hours. Specific work hours will be established in consultation with your supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of support for EMR-related training and user assistance.
  • Collaborate in the design of and deliver EMR training for new hires, refresher sessions, and system updates.
  • Maintain clear, up-to-date training materials, workflows, and user guides.
  • Provide day-to-day support for EMR questions, troubleshooting, and workflow guidance in partnership with IT.
  • Support EMR implementations and upgrades through training, testing, and user feedback.
  • During major implementations or upgrades, help manage and maintain the EMR project plan by tracking tasks, timelines, and follow-up items.
  • Act as a liaison between system users, Learning and Development, IT, and EMR vendors to communicate needs and improvements.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and promote best practices across departments.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health informatics, healthcare administration, information systems, education, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • At least three years of experience working with EMR systems in a training, support, or optimization role
  • Experience delivering system or technical training, preferably in healthcare or senior care settings
  • Familiarity with EMR platforms such as PrimeSuite, PACElogic, EireneRx, or AlayaCare is a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
