Accounting Manager

Job Summary:

Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, identifying any discrepancies or fraud, and providing recommendations for improvement. Reporting directly to the VP, Controller, this position plays an important role in maintaining our company's financial stability and compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a deep understanding of accounting principles and procedures.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the monthly financial statement close process by ensuring that all transactions are processed and recorded in a timely manner (treasury, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger) and providing monthly and year to date variance explanations within those statements.
  • Leads in all balance sheet reconciliations preparations in a timely manner monthly.
  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies procedures, including adopting new accounting pronouncements.
  • Responsible for review of proper execution of internal controls over all financial transactions.
  • Aid in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and other financial reports, as required.
  • Develops, plans and executes comprehensive audits of financial records, procedures, and transactions to verify adherence to company policies and relevant regulations.
  • Uncover and review any inconsistencies, discrepancies, or potential instances of financial errors in statements, accounts, and transactions.
  • Contributes to the optimization of accounting process to increase speed and precision of close.
  • Create reports that synthesize audit discoveries, along with recommendations for enhancing financial controls, processes, and protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to effectuate suggested changes and enhancements to financial systems and procedures.
  • Oversee internal controls, ensuring sustained compliance and precision.
  • Keep abreast of developments in accounting regulations and industry benchmarks, guaranteeing adherence and contributing to ongoing enhancement.
  • Offer support and counsel to fellow team members concerning financial compliance, monthly close and best practices.
  • Internal subject matter expert on accounting systems.
  • Responsible for all financial and regulatory reporting.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 4 years' experience as an Accounting Manager
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Business and financial acumen in high growth environments to include hands on experience with general ledger, accounts payable and payroll processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and internal control best practices
  • Strong/Expert skills utilizing Microsoft Excel. Proficient in all other Microsoft Office Suite tools (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word). Planful Accounting software experience a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Requirements:

  • Requires valid State driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of background check, physical, drug screening, TB Screening

Employment Requirements: Successful completion of Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, PA DHS Child Abuse Clearance, Office of Inspector General check, and FBI Fingerprinting for Child Protective Services Law (at employer’s expense). Successful completion of post-offer employment drug screening and physical (at employer’s expense). CPR and First Aid Certification, or willing to obtain at employer’s expense. Individuals must have one year of prior experience caring for the frail elderly or willing to complete Company paid training to meet this requirement.
